12 hours in Copenhagen

12 Hours is a travel site which gives you 'Travel guides off the beaten paths, filled with secret spots, flavour and design.'

'To keep it simple, we organised them in itineraries. 12 hours per trip. Sweet and short. With the best to see, do, eat, dance we could fit in one short stay. We ignored a lot of the usual recommendations, because we trust you that you will find the obvious tourist highlights for yourself. You can follow our schedule, or you can just pick a few selected tips and ignore the rest. We won't judge you. Let's go on a trip together!'

I met Yhonnie Scarce through the Dianne Tanzer Gallery in 2011 and have had the privilege of documenting her work ever since. When Indiana's health took a turn for the worse, just short of her 19th birthday, Yhonnie made a personal request that I capture a portrait of them together.

In an environment full of young entrepreneurs, Ivan and Lillian were sitting patiently waiting together, interested in the activities occurring around them and comfortable within the company of each other. Becky Windlass is from the Great Victoria Desert in Western Australia. Her parents lived through the atomic testing at Maralinga, South Australia in the 1950's and migrated southwards to a mission settlement. Becky is married to a man from Spinifex Country, has one child and lives with her extended family between remote South and Western Australia. I have known Becky since she was a young girl and now know her as an amazing young mother.

This is a portrait of Kaloti Parmjit taken on the stairs leading to the temple at the Australian Sikh Association in Glenwood, New South Wales. The association is the largest registered body of the Sikhs in the Southern Hemisphere. I have photographed the Sikh community as part of a social documentary project for the State Library of New South Wales. The Sikhs’ ideals are based on equality, sharing, and the oneness of all humankind. The Sikh people I have meet are generous, warm and honest; they treat me like an old friend. The serenity of the temple and its people is most inviting.

Judy Cassab and Charles Blackman are now elderly, frail and suffering dementia, yet their skill, talent and desire to draw continue to burn brightly. Each Wednesday morning these great Australian artists get together at Judy’s home for a drawing session with a nude model. Although now they do not interact much with the world at large, they work contentedly in their own creative worlds. I was privileged to photograph them at one of these sessions.

A frenzy of lights and noise..

Andy Goldsworthy's ephemeral art is captivating and inspiring. It resonates with me every time I come across an image of his work. It makes you want to get close to nature, and immerse all your senses in its colours, shapes, textures, and smells. It makes me want to create.

ALEXA MEADE

Alexa Meade paints portraits of people on top of themselves.

I love how she can combine paint, photography, performance and portraiture to create these stunning visual illusions, playing with the perception of 2d and 3d forms and ideas of reality. She pushes the boundaries on traditional portraiture, and uses very unconventional media, like milk, to create these beautiful pieces.

Her work below - using milk and dissolving, dripping paint - inspires me to work with the ephemeral, and the beauty in capturing a fleeting moment.
